Put simply, the purpose of VatSimSigs to provide free online status indicator images for use in forum signatures by virtual pilots who fly online using VATSIM.
I hacked together VatSimSigs because I was fed up with other VATSIM indicator websites being down all the time. I like to have my current status showing on the forums I frequent so that my friends can see if I'm attached to VATSIM or not.
You can either use the standard VatSimSig status graphic or upload multiple image sets of your own.
Image sets are cool - they're a series of two images, one representing your online status and the other your offline status. The correct one is served back to your forum signature depending on your VatSim status, simply by copying the relevant code into your forum profile.
You can have as many image sets as you like, so if you want a different status indicator for different forums (say, one for each of your Virtual Airline memberships), you can! Just make sure you copy the relevant code into each forum.
Yes! I've gotten so much for free from the community over the years (since about 1993!) I figured it was time I gave something back! Feel free to donate something though to help my kids have better shoes then their friends.
The web app was built by Steve Woods using ASP.NET MVC version 2, and is powered by swearing, coffee and the little puffs of smoke you get when all 3 wheels touch down after a long flight... oh yea, and this data helps a bit :)
